         About

Trekkertent is a small UK cottage business based in Scotland making ultralight
tents and custom shelters.

As these tents have been designed mainly for use in the UK climate, particularly in the
strong winds and exposed
terrain of the Scottish Highlands, wind performance and rain
protection are the key design aims, rather than trying to achieve the absolute lowest
weight possible.

Most tents use trekking poles for support, their additional strength over normal tent
poles providing stability in strong winds as well as reducing the weight to be carried.
The hybrid (Patent Pending) tents use trekking poles in combination with alloy
tent poles, working both with and against each other to produce a frame that
is flexible as well as strong.

Ease of use and comfort are also key objectives and all tents have the following features:

  • Stability - hiking pole support. Tent poles inserted into sleeves built into the flysheets
  • Easy and quick to set up - pitch flysheet first or all as one. No different lengthed poles to select.

  • Easy to access - large side entrances that protect the inner tent from rain.

  • Space - deep vestibules, sit-up headroom and generous internal space where it is needed.

  • Length - standard sizes accomodate people up to 6ft 2",  large sizes available
All  tents can be customised to meet individual requirements, with various options available on
inner tent configurations, additional tie-outs etc.
